DDS GP was born in my dental office in San Diego, CA. I had always believed in presenting treatment to patients myself, but as my office grew and we got busier and busier, it seemed that there was never enough time. I'd spend 10 minutes or more explaining a relatively simple procedure while my staff members gave me "the look" and tapped their watches. I needed a better, faster, easier way.

I purchased a popular video software.  But it was too slick, and the narrator was somebody that wasn't me. Who is the expert here? The video always seemed to move too fast or too slow.  I’d pause, resume, skip, rewind. I always turned the volume off.

As TVs became more ubiquitous and flatscreens popped up everywhere you look… even the gas station… I realized that people just weren't watching if I left them alone with the video. They needed human, face-to-face interaction.  

I tried models, posters, flipbooks, even bracket table drawings.  All of this resulted in a mess that was too hard for patients to understand.  Brochures were uninteresting and seemed a bit "salesy."  Posters were inconvenient. My lower case acceptance, especially on the very large cases, proved I needed another way.

The iPad had just been introduced (2010) and it gave me an idea.  An App!  So I enlisted the help of a graphic artist and an iPad developer.  The iPad was an obvious choice with its light weight, perfect size, and great battery life.  Lots (and lots) of hours later, DDS GP was ready.

We priced it to be fair.  Other similar products on the market were expensive.  We are a dentist-owned company making a patient consult product.  I actually USE the product I make and have the same goal as you: increase case acceptance and production.  I can do treatment plans myself now without messing up the schedule.  It is my firm belief that patients say "yes" more often when they're talking directly to the dentist or hygienist.  And, boy oh boy, has it worked!
